The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon

Goodreads blurb;

“West Hall, Vermont, has always been a town of strange disappearances and old legends. The most mysterious is that of Sara Harrison Shea, who in 1908, was found in the field behind her house just months after the tragic death of her daughter, Gertie. Now, in present day, nineteen-year-old Ruthie lives in Sara’s farmhouse with her mother and younger sister, Fawn. Her mother always insisted that they live off the grid, and that’s a risky decision when Ruthie wakes up to find her mother missing. Searching for clues, she finds a copy of Sara Harrison Shea’s diary hidden beneath the floorboards of her mother’s bedroom. As Ruthie gets sucked deeper into the mystery of Sara’s fate, she discovers that she’s not the only person who’s desperately looking for someone they’ve lost...”

The Winter People is a page turning ghost story that I could not put down. I absolutely enjoyed reading it and getting sucked into the lives of the characters. The only issue I had was the open ending of the book, I overall did not like that there wasn't a final ending. If there were to be a sequel, I would not have minded the ending. Other than that, I enjoyed the book thoroughly and will pass it along to others.
