Firstlife
by Gena Showalter
Goodreads Blurb:
ONE CHOICE.
TWO REALMS.
NO SECOND CHANCE.
Tenley “Ten” Lockwood is an average seventeen-year-old girl…who has spent the past thirteen months locked inside the Prynne Asylum. The reason? Not her obsession with numbers, but her refusal to let her parents choose where she’ll live—after she dies.
There is an eternal truth most of the world has come to accept: Firstlife is merely a dress rehearsal, and real life begins after death.
In the Everlife, two realms are in power: Troika and Myriad, longtime enemies and deadly rivals. Both will do anything to recruit Ten, including sending their top Laborers to lure her to their side. Soon, Ten finds herself on the run, caught in a wild tug-of-war between the two realms who will do anything to win the right to her soul. Who can she trust? And what if the realm she’s drawn to isn’t home to the boy she’s falling for? She just has to stay alive long enough to make a decision…

My thoughts: For me this story took some
time to get into but once the action started you had to keep reading to find
out what was going to happen next. When Killian and Archer aka Bow come into
the picture I thought here comes around love triangle but I was pleasantly surprised.
It’s not a love triangle per say. To me Archer has more of a friendship with
Ten than a romance. Killian is a different story. He starts off fun-flirting
with Ten but his feelings start to develop. It’s a little difficult to try and
start a relationship with someone when there is a war going off in the background
and every other day one of you or both of you “die”. I thought were the book
left off was good, left you wanting more.
