Enrapture (eagle elite 6.5) by Rachel Van Dyken

26202103

Blurb:
Trace is everything.

My freaking world.

And I would do anything to keep her safe.

But, I can't protect her from every kind of evil..and I can no longer keep the past a secret...

We were left folders.

Each one filled with the sins of our pasts.

And Traces grandfather just asked us to read his.

There was no preparation.

And now I'm wondering if I should have let the love of my life read it at all, because some things can't be unsaid, some words stay with us forever.

I know, from this day forward, nothing will ever be the same.

My thoughts:
This story is part of an anthology called Hurt.  A short story that takes place in the past and the present. We get to read what is inside Frank's black folder. We find out that it is the missing pages from Trace's grandma's diary. Everyone gets to hear what is inside. For me, I felt like the information that we learned about in the last book makes more sense now that we have the full story. I just wish that this book was not mixed in with the anthology. Otherwise really good.

People Like Us by Dana Mele

People Like Us
Blurb:
Kay Donovan may have skeletons in her closet, but the past is past, and she's reinvented herself entirely. Now she's a star soccer player whose group of gorgeous friends run their private school with effortless popularity and acerbic wit. But when a girl's body is found in the lake, Kay's carefully constructed life begins to topple.

The dead girl has left Kay a computer-coded scavenger hunt, which, as it unravels, begins to implicate suspect after suspect, until Kay herself is in the crosshairs of a murder investigation. But if Kay's finally backed into a corner, she'll do what it takes to survive. Because at Bates Academy, the truth is something you make...not something that happened.
My thoughts:
This book will keep you thinking. I finished this book in a day. it was that good.  this book also addresses the topic of mental illness and what it can do to the mind. I think that an author that can discuss the topic in a way that the reader can relate to, makes the book better. I don't think I could do what Kay did to her friends. That takes guts. I also liked that I could not predict who it was right off the bat. I had to think about it a bit. this book was very well written and flowed well. I wish that there was more. Overall, I recommend this book.

Elude (eagle elite 6) by Rachel Van Dyken

25712676

Blurb:
This book is the sixth book in the internationally bestselling Eagle Elite Series. It's an interconnected stand alone novel with no cliffhanger.

Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married--I offered to shoot her.
Ten hours before our wedding--I made a mockery of her dying wish.
Five hours before we were going to say our vows--I promised I'd never love her.
One hour before I said I do--I vowed I'd never shed a tear over her death.
But the minute we were pronounced man and wife--I knew.

I'd only use my gun to protect her.
I'd give my life for hers.
I'd cry.
And I would, most definitely, lose myself, to a dying girl---a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.

I always believed the mafia would be my end game--poisoning my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.

Or the beginning of something beautiful.

The beginning of her.

The end of us.
My thoughts:
This book will have your emotions all over the place. This book is Sergio's story. I thought he was an asshole before but now he is even worse. As his punishment for betraying the family, he has to marry a Russian girl. He does not want to marry her because she is dying. Andi has been fighting Leukemia for a while and is dying but she does not act like it at all. She is sassy, funny, and keeps Sergio on his toes. This story will have you on your toes the whole time. I am warning you now that by the end you will be balling your eyes out. In the end, we will also learn a secret as well. I can not wait to read the next one.

The Game Can't Love You Back by Karole Cozzo

35485731

Blurb:
Eve is used to being the odd woman out. As the only girl on her school's baseball team, she knows exactly how to put sweaty, macho baseball players in their place, and she's focused on one thing and one thing only—being the best pitcher she can be.

But when a freak accident forces her high school to be absorbed by the neighboring town, Eve has to contend with a new group of guys who aren't used to having a woman on their team. And the new team's star pitcher, Jamie, has no interest in being ousted from his throne. He can't afford to give up his starting slot to a new pitcher—even worse, to a girl.

As the competition between Jamie and Eve starts to heat up, so does their attraction to each other. Can they keep their heads in the game, or will they end up getting played?
My thoughts:
This book was cute. Women in athletics don't get the same respect as men do. So to see a book trying to break through those layers is wonderful. For someone who likes sport in general, I feel women do not get the respect that they deserve. I also like that we get to see how she is treated in high school in a male-dominated sport. I truly enjoyed this book. I could not put this book down. I wish that there was more.

Bang Bang ( eagle elite 5.5 ) by Rachel Van Dyken

22913350

Blurb:
He was my best friend.
Until he became my enemy.
All within the span of one night.

Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang.

The rapid fire of gunshots became the soundtrack to my life.

This is the Mafia. Lines are blurred. Choices are never black and white. And the life you thought you knew is... one giant lie.

He was dead.
And I didn't want his life to be in vain, so I tried to make something of myself. I tried and failed.

Now he's back. Alive. And he wants something...

Me.

Nobody ever said the mafia played fair.
Welcome to The Family.

  My Thoughts:
A short story, that introduces a new character to the series. In this book, we meet Ax who is Sergio's brother. The two brothers are not close because of an incident that happened over a girl. We will find the real reason why the two brothers are not close. Nixion call Ax back into the limelight to help the mob fix a problem that they have. I have to say for a shorter story than the other, it still is up to par like the other. The moment you start reading will have you sucked in. I really like Ax, so that we get to see him more in the series. Overall not a bad book.

Impostors (uglies #5) by Scott Westerfeld

I got an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review. This book will be out on September 11, 2018.
37825397
Blurb:
Frey and Rafi are inseparable . . . but very few people have ever seen them together. This is because Frey is Rafi’s double, raised in the shadow’s of their rich father’s fortress. While Rafi has been taught to charm, Frey has been taught to kill. Frey only exists to protect her sister. There is no other part of her life. Frey has never been out in the world on her own – until her father sends her in Rafi’s place to act as collateral for a dangerous deal. Everyone thinks she’s her sister – but Col, the son of a rival leader, is starting to get close enough to tell the difference. As the stakes grow higher and higher, Frey must decide whether she can trust him – or anyone in her life.

My thoughts:
If you have read the ugly series this book is in the same land just 10 years into the future. I recommend you read that series first. I am a huge fan of this series so I was excited to find out that the author was revisiting that world again. Well, this book was amazing. Once you start you will not be able to put it down. I like that there are reference to what happened in the Ugly series but you can still figure out what is going on without having read the other book. There is never a dull moment. I personally finished this book in one day. The ending will make you want to scream. I can not wait until the next book.

Going Rouge (cursed ravens mc 3) by Chantal Fernando

37702516
Blurb:
Love blossoms in the most unexpected of places in this sweet and steamy Cursed Ravens Motorcyle Club title featuring a hunky bad boy and a charming nurse.

The men might tease Rogue and call him pretty behind his back, but no one is going to say that to his face. As the vice president of the Cursed Ravens—and with an unpredictable and unruly temper—respect is given to him at any cost.

But Rogue reins himself in when he visits his mother in a local nursing home. Overwhelmed with guilt that he can’t take care of her himself, he can barely handle watching her fade away with dementia. And he knows the staff is exceptional—especially the sweet and beautiful caregiver who pays extra attention to his mom.

It isn’t easy working at a nursing home, but Zoe enjoys spending time with her favorite patient Anne. She knows Anne has a son who dutifully visits her, but when Zoe sees the tall, muscled, handsome stranger, she can tell he’s trouble—beautiful trouble. She knows he’s a Cursed Raven and she knows better than to admit she’s attracted to him. There’s no way she'll date an MC member. Been there done that. But as Zoe and Rogue start to get closer, they realize one way or another, they’ll have to fight to stay in each other’s lives.

My thoughts:
Intense much would be the way I describe this book. there is never a dull moment in this authors book. I think that everyone will fall in love with the characters in this book. Altimeters can be a horrible thing to go through and watch for the family. I felt so bad for Rouge in this book. I think the author did a great job describing what was happening in the book. I wish that there would have been more background on Rouge in regards to his singing. I hope that there will be more books in the series. Overall, a really good book.

Ember (eagle elite 5) by Rachel Van Dyken

24968282
Blurb:
This is a dark mafia romance. It can be read as a stand alone but is recommended to read within the Eagle Elite Series. No Cliffhanger

Everybody Loves A Bit of Darkness..Until It Consumes Them...
I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo's sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.
She's a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can't escape the fear her seductive looks instill--knowing it's only a matter of time before I fail--again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it's not pretty...I died, and now I'm alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life--I can't resist taking.

My thoughts:
Well, this book in the series very interesting. At first we thought Phoenix was dead but actually, he has been alive this whole time. talk about a shock. I know that I was. So now we get to read his story. His story was very intense to read. One thing I love about Mrs. Van Dyken's work is the way she has the ability to make the reader feel like she is in the book. I think Bee is an amazing character. She is what Phoenix needs for him to live. I also think that that it is hysterical that everyone is trigger happy in this series. It makes the book super interesting because you never know who is going to get shot at. We will also learn more about Cosa Nostra as a whole and all of the drama going down there. Can't wait to read more!
